Why Your Bikini Top Should Lift Your Bust in 3 Ways | Bikinis for Large Cup Sizes

Finding a well-fitting bikini top can feel like searching for the perfect pair of jeans: one flatters you beautifully, while another just… doesn’t work. That’s because fit is a science in itself—and the same applies to bikinis. Years of experience and expertise are needed to create the perfect fit that lifts and shapes the bust. You’ve likely experienced this when trying on bras at different lingerie stores—not every bra flatters your bust or fits as well as another style. Many brands cater to specific audiences and adjust their fits accordingly. Some brands focus on women aged 65+ who seek full coverage and support, others appeal to a younger crowd that loves playful and colorful designs, while others target women who prefer sexy, minimal bikinis. But regardless of a bikini brand’s target audience, a bikini for large cup sizes should always lift the bust in three ways.

The Perfect Bikini for Large Cup Sizes: Why the Balconette Bikini is Ideal

A balconette bikini is the perfect choice for women with a larger cup size who want both support and a flattering silhouette. The balconette bikini top offers three essential lifts that enhance a beautiful, natural shape while providing excellent support. This makes it a fantastic bikini for large cup sizes!

The Vertical Lift | Essential for Large Cup Bikinis

Let’s start with the most obvious lift: the vertical lift. Breasts naturally tend to hang downward due to gravity, which may not always create the desired look. For cup sizes D and above, this can also feel uncomfortable.

A vertical lift can be achieved in several ways:

  • By making the lower part of the cup less deep. This reduces space for the lower part of the breast, pushing it upward.

  • By using fabric with minimal stretch. This prevents the bust from sagging, as there’s simply no elasticity to allow it. No stretch = no room to sag!

The balconette bikini and plunge bikini are both ideal for larger cup sizes, offering a stunning vertical lift. The balconette bikini top is the most popular large cup size bikini and is ideal for women with a narrow underbust and a larger cup size, such as bikini cup E, F, and G.

The Diagonal Lift | Centers the Bust for a Large Cup Bikini

The second lift is a unique one, often overlooked in swimwear but widely used in high-end lingerie. In addition to sagging downward, breasts often fall slightly toward the sides, near the underarms. This reduces cleavage volume. The lift that brings the breasts back to the center is called a diagonal lift. The best way to achieve this is by adding a non-stretch mesh fabric at the sides of the cups. Since this fabric has no elasticity, there’s no room for the bust to drift sideways. This results in a fuller and more beautifully shaped cleavage.

The Compression Lift | Extra Support for Large Cup Bikinis

The third lift might be the most flattering—and at the same time, the least used in swimwear and lingerie. This is our favorite lift because it is incredibly flattering. We call it the compression lift, where the lift is created by—yes, you guessed it—compression.

Swimwear often features a thin lining inside the cups to protect the skin from seams and possible irritation from padding. This lining is usually a thin mesh or stretchy fabric weighing around 60 grams per square meter. However, we choose to use a much thicker and firmer fabric as the lining in all our bikini tops and bottoms. This fabric is actually not a lining material but an outer swimwear fabric, weighing 220 grams per square meter. What this fabric does is gently press the breasts closer to the body, creating the effect of a shaping bikini. It’s similar to pressing your bust inward with your hands. The compression caused by the lining fabric enhances both the vertical and diagonal lifts, creating a beautifully full effect at the top of the bust.

The Effect of Compression Fabric on Bikini Bottoms | The High-Waist Bikini Shaping Effect

Although this blog focuses on bust lifting, this lining fabric also has a stunning effect on bikini bottoms! Almost like shapewear (but breathable 😉), the firm yet soft fabric provides light compression at the waist, accentuating an hourglass figure. Our high-waist bikini offers a shaping effect while smoothing any unevenness on the stomach, hips, or buttocks, creating a beautifully sleek silhouette.

We use this lining fabric in all our bikini tops and bottoms, meaning even the Plunge Top and Triangle Top get an extra lift. “A Triangle Top that lifts?” – Yes! A firm, high-quality fabric can truly make a difference.

Which Bikini Top Provides Which Lift?
