Bikini 70D, 70E and 70F: the sizes more and more women are searching for
Full bust, small band? Chances are finding a stylish bikini in your size is a struggle every summer – and you're not alone. Thousands of women are facing the same challenge.
Women’s average cup size has been increasing for years. Back in 2000, the average cup size in the Netherlands was a C – today, it’s a D. And among younger women, it’s becoming more common to see slim figures with fuller busts. But why is that?
One contributing factor is the use of hormonal contraception, such as the pill. The hormones can cause the body to retain more fluid, which leads to fuller breasts. And since many girls are prescribed the pill at a young age, this has an effect on cup size for a large number of women.
More and more women are combining a slim underbust with a fuller cup – and are therefore searching for bikini 70D, 70E or 70F. But why is the fashion industry not catching up?
Why bikini sizes 70D, 70E and 70F are becoming more common
Most swimwear brands stick to generic sizing like XS, S, M and L because of production costs, inventory management, and complexity. If a brand offers just five sizes, from XS to XL, it can keep production manageable – for example, 5 sizes in 3 colours and 20 pieces per size = 300 items total.
But if a brand chooses to offer cup sizes from A to G and band sizes from 65 to 95, that adds up to 49 size combinations. Multiply that by 3 colours and 20 pieces per size and you get 2,940 items – 10 times the production and 10 times the cost. That also means managing a much larger inventory. For many brands, that’s too expensive or too complex.
The result? Women with a larger bust and small band often face a lack of stylish options that actually fit. Either you find a cute bikini that isn’t available in your size, or you find one that fits – but looks outdated or frumpy. Just try finding a good-looking bikini 70D – it’s surprisingly hard. And for bikini 70E or 70F? The selection is even more limited.
Why we do make bikinis in your size
At Via di Gioia, we saw this problem and decided to do things differently. We understand that finding a bikini that fits both a smaller band and a larger cup – like a bikini 70D, 70E or 70F – can be a real challenge. In fact, it was the main reason we started Via di Gioia: to finally offer stylish and beautiful swimwear for women with a full bust and narrow underbust.
That’s why we developed a collection specifically designed for women like you – with cup sizes D, E and F, paired with a small band size. To help reduce excess stock (and avoid overproduction), we’ve made our bikini tops adjustable, so they work for multiple band sizes. This makes them ideal for anyone looking for a bikini 70D, 70E or 70F.
Our bikinis are not only created to give your bust proper support, but also to flatter your shape. Because we believe you should never have to compromise on style or fit. It’s time for the fashion industry to truly acknowledge body diversity – and become more inclusive when it comes to cup sizes.
