On average, 33% of the produced garments are sold for full price, 33% are sold in sale, and 33% of the garments are not sold at all. (at some websites you may read the ratio is 30%-30%-40%, but keep in mind this differs from company to company)*. Producing more than you sell is called over production, and is a huge factor of environmental pollution. With this in mind, we developed the following solutions to decrease any potential over production within our company:
1. We produce 20% less of what we expect to sell. Therefore, it’s more likely that we sell our stock completely and we don’t end up with a pile of clothing.
2. We have adjustable sizing. Because the underbust straps are adjustable, and we make use of the concept called sister sizing, we are able to sell 42 bra sizes, but produce in fact only 9. This means we produce 4,7 times less items than the regular production model. For a complete understanding how our sizing works, please reach out to us, so we can elaborate on it more specifically.
3. The items that we don’t sell, will not be destroyed, but go either to outlets or second hand shops. Most or our collection sells out, but yes, if some pieces aren’t sold, it’s possible you’ll find a Via di Gioia swimsuit in your local second hand shop ;).
